Build Your Own Internship: Location of Your Choice
Not seeing an internship for you below? If you have a very specific internship placement in mind or are looking through our program list and not seeing your location of choice, you still have options! You can “Build Your Own Internship,” where you research and secure your own internship while working with the GEO office to receive relevant academic credit. Students are responsible for finding this internship, housing, and travel arrangements independently, which is what differs from the existing internship placement programs that GEO offers. All students will be charged in-state tuition for this program and receive a guaranteed $250-$1000 scholarship.

Examples of Internship Placements
Atenas, Costa Rica with World Endeavors
Business and Marketing with Tourism Company:
Work with the team to develop marketing campaigns and collateral to increase tourism to Costa Rica. Tasks can include editing and translating, updating and creating content for the website, conducting competitor research and developing social media campaigns to increase company visibility internationally.
Organic Coffee Farm or Sustainable Fruit and Vegetable Farm:
Join the small friendly team at a coffee farm in the rural community of San Isidro de Atenas. The farm is a family-run business dedicated to producing organic coffee in a sustainable way. Interns are involved in every aspect of the process, from picking, drying, toasting, and packing the coffee beans, to sales and marketing, as well as guiding tours of the farm. Another possible placement is with a family-run sustainable agriculture project certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, helping to grow vegetables and fruit and also selling the produce at the weekly farmer's market.

Global Business Internship:
International Business interns are placed in a range of businesses spanning a wide array of industries with both local and global markets.
Business Skills Teacher:
A previous intern was placed at an organization which teaches business skills and entrepreneurial thinking to local high school students.
Conservation Internship:
Past interns in Thailand have been placed with an organization whose vision is to promote sustainable tourism and networking in Thailand and worldwide. Their mission is to create awareness by giving training to their members, and to do marketing work for sustainable organizations domestically and internationally. Interns have helped the international marketing team and focused on building the organization's image and branding internationally, provided sales support, conducted follow-up with various international travel agents and organizations, helped to rewrite the web site content and sales materials, and conducted research on sustainable guidelines and quality control. Interns have also assisted in organizing and making arrangements for tradeshows, trainings, events and meetings, as well as assisting with preparation for the events, making appointments and creating presentations.
Resort Management Internship:
Another placement in Thailand has been with a hotel and resort group whose mission is to unite marketing activities into one integrated marketing strategy and uniting the brand. This particular hotel group is one of the largest hotel and resort chains in all of Thailand. The owner also runs a tour and event-management company. Interns have been primarily based in the Bangkok area, which is mainly focused on marketing. Interns have assisted with marketing and promotions, as well as daily management maintenance within the 14 hotels owned by the company. Interns have also had the opportunity to travel around Thailand to various hotel locations and learn from the different managements at each one. Interns have also assisted with social media management, including providing content for Instagram and Facebook, as well as investigating and writing blog posts about places in Thailand.

Professional staffing company with a wealth of experience in the Irish market. Interns focus on sales support, accounting, administration, and marketing functions, and also support the recruitment teams in the areas of HR, accounting, financial services, technology, business support, retail construction and marketing. Interns also support the recruitment process by sourcing, pre-screening, and scheduling potential clients, helping with interviews, assisting with LinkedIn advertisements, job posts and candidate management.
Business and Event Management Internship:

Company that offers food and wine tours on foot in the historic center of Florence. Interns assist with arranging tours, helping guests gain a deeper understanding of the foods and destinations on the tours.
Wine Business Internship:
Family-run wine cellar located in the heart of the Florentine old town. Interns learn about the business and sales side of wine, conduct market research and trend analysis, assist with the design of wine marketing strategies and campaigns, assist with strategies to expand clientele and increase sales, manage social media marketing campaigns, and gain a broader overview of the Italian wine industry.
Import/Export Internship:
International shipping company focused on import and export services. Interns assist with invoice management, data checking, providing shipping advice, email correspondence and providing documentation, conducting translations, consolidating balance sheets, and accounting data entry.

Business Growth Internship:
This internship offers a placement with a business growth consultancy. The intern can expect to get involved with financial planning, research and market analysis. As well as attending client meetings and workshops.
Ecommerce Internship:
A business internship with an ecommerce payments gateway company.
