Build Your Own Internship: Location of Your Choice 

Not seeing an internship for you below? If you have a very specific internship placement in mind or are looking through our program list and not seeing your location of choice, you still have options! You can “Build Your Own Internship,” where you research and secure your own internship while working with the GEO office to receive relevant academic credit. Students are responsible for finding this internship, housing, and travel arrangements independently, which is what differs from the existing internship placement programs that GEO offers. All students will be charged in-state tuition for this program and receive a guaranteed $250-$1000 scholarship.

Atenas, Costa Rica with World Endeavors

 

Teaching English at a Public School: 

Assist the lead teacher in the English class of one of the local public schools for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. Help with lesson planning, arranging full class and small group activities, and facilitate a welcoming environment for children to practice their English skills in a fun and engaging way. Bring your own ideas and creativity, and be ready to have a lot of fun with the kids while gaining valuable hands-on teaching experience!

 

 

Bangkok, Thailand with World Endeavors 


Education School Assistant Internship: 

Education interns assist local educators in primary and secondary schools and other institutions to promote learning in the classroom and in the local community. 

Education School Assistant Internship: 
A previous intern was based in a small school just outside of Bangkok, where they worked with the local teachers to create a robust and engaging English syllabus for their students. 


 

Buenos Aires, Argentina with Road2Argentina

 

Education Non-Profit Internship: 
Educar y Crecer is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education for children and young people in a situation of socio-educational vulnerability. They design education programs with their own method that allows them to measure their impact and the children's learning. 

Educational Center Internship: 
Uniendo Caminos works with kids and teenagers from low income neighborhoods in order to to enable them to finish primary and secondary school and reduce school dropout rates. The Educational Centers offer classes and tutoring in Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Math, and Language. They believe that "education is an instrument of social insertion." 

 

Cape Town, South Africa with CIEE 

 

Education Program/School Internship: 
Work at a local school assisting teachers in offering academic support to learners with academic challenges. 

Education Non-Profit Internship: 
Intern at a local non-profit developing and implementing activities for after school programs. 
 

 

Hua Hin, Thailand with Travelbud (Paid):  

 

Teaching English Internship:

Students will complete a 120 hour TESOL/TEFL course and teach English in local schools. Teaching placements (including grade levels) are made based on the intern's experience working with youth, school needs, and preference. Interns learn how to teach and then are supported throughout their teaching period.
 

 

Incheon, South Korea with Travelbud 

 

Teaching English Internship:

Students will complete a 120 hour TESOL/TEFL course and teach English in local schools. Teaching placements (including grade levels) are made based on the intern's experience working with youth, school needs, and preference. Interns learn how to teach and then are supported throughout their teaching period.

 

Nagoya, Japan with Travelbud

 

Teaching English Internship:

Students will complete a 120 hour TESOL/TEFL course and teach English in local schools. Teaching placements (including grade levels) are made based on the intern's experience working with youth, school needs, and preference. Interns learn how to teach and then are supported throughout their teaching period.

 

Paris, France with World Endeavors

 

Youth NGO Internship:

NGO that provides educational programming to Lebanese children who have migrated to France. Interns assist with arranging activities related to arts and cultural exchange to engage the children, like music education, library resources and outdoor recreation.

Humanitarian Internship:

NGO working toward global development and promoting respect for human dignity while assisting people of diverse origins with education, citizenship and integration into society. They mainly assist young people, women and asylum seekers. Interns participate in sociolinguistic workshops, manage communication and marketing initiatives including social media and website updates and translate flyers and other marketing or informational materials.

 

Prague, Czech Republic with World Endeavors 

 

Education School Assistant Internship: 
Education interns assist local educators in primary and secondary schools and other institutions to promote learning in the classroom and in the local community. 

Education Center Internship: 
A previous intern assisted at a local adult education center, where they would teach and work on the curriculum for adult learners. 

 

Quito, Ecuador with Universidad San Francisco de Quito 

 

Education Assistant Internship: 
Intern as the Support Assistant in a 3 year old class at Guardería TEL. Students should have experience working with early childhood children and a background related to education or psychology. 

 

Rabat, Morocco with World Endeavors 

 

Education School Assistant Internship: 
Education interns assist local educators in primary and secondary schools and other institutions to promote learning in the classroom and in the local community. 

Nonprofit Management with Education Foundation:
Passionate about innovative social enterprises and effective educational opportunities? We have the placement for you! This organization offers fun, alternative educational opportunities supported by new technology and personalized to the needs of each child. Contemporary, warm and friendly, this educational and cultural center serves a large number of households and offers a diverse multitude of services. Intern responsibilities include managing the website and social media channels, editing documents, conducting workshops with the children, and planning and marketing events. 

International Relations with Educational and Cultural Institution:
Join an organization focused on providing cross-cultural learning opportunities, and assist with a project centered on the use of fiction, feature films and documentaries in the promotion and teaching of human rights. 

 

Sydney, Australia with World Endeavors

Education/Youth Development Internship:

Public school education - Join a vibrant and diverse public school with students from many different cultures all over the world. Many of the students are 1st generation Australians with English as their second language. There are numerous extracurricular activities offered including film club, debate, public speaking, reading club, computer club and sports activities. The staff and teachers range from beginner teachers in their first year to the experienced teacher with 30+ years on the job. The school offers an incredible language program with 8 different languages taught throughout the school. Training and learning outcomes for the intern includes:
o    Implementing individual education programs in the classroom for students with identified learning needs
o    Planning for programming, excursions and professional learning
o    Weekly professional learning opportunities
o    Exposure to K-6 teaching throughout the school 
o    Opportunity to work in one of the 12 language-based classrooms

 

Education/Youth Development Internship: Primary School Education:

This primary school provides quality education in a caring environment, developing the academic, cultural, physical and social potential of each child and encouraging children to become self-motivated individuals, who strive for excellence, developing independence and co-operation. Many of the students are from non-English speaking backgrounds, and the school offers two community language programs, Greek and Chinese. The supportive community and dedicated staff make this placement a great environment for interns to receive a well-rounded experience of the Australian education system, while supporting teachers in the classroom and throughout daily school life.
