Build Your Own Internship: Location of Your Choice
Not seeing an internship for you below? If you have a very specific internship placement in mind or are looking through our program list and not seeing your location of choice, you still have options! You can “Build Your Own Internship,” where you research and secure your own internship while working with the GEO office to receive relevant academic credit. Students are responsible for finding this internship, housing, and travel arrangements independently, which is what differs from the existing internship placement programs that GEO offers. All students will be charged in-state tuition for this program and receive a guaranteed $250-$1000 scholarship.

Atenas, Costa Rica with World Endeavors
Tourism Internship with Adventure Tour Department of a Hotel:
Learn all about adventure travel and activities in this exciting destination for eco-tourism! Assist in arranging a variety of activities including ziplining, hiking, horseback riding and tubing. Provide information about a variety of tourist regions and other activities available, and gain experience in the business and management side of this exciting industry.
Business and Marketing Internship with Tourism Company:
Work with the team to develop marketing campaigns and collateral to increase tourism to Costa Rica. Tasks can include editing and translating, updating and creating content for the website, conducting competitor research and developing social media campaigns to increase company visibility internationally.
Bangkok, Thailand with World Endeavors
Tourism Management Internship with Adventure Park Company:
Welcome to this established, growing tourism company with adventure ropes courses in four locations throughout Thailand. Study and understand the company's business platforms, focusing on safety standards, to design communication channels with inbound European target customers. Assist in developing a risk assessment of upcountry locations and approaching potential travel agencies for business development. Work with the team to develop marketing strategy and collateral, and manage social media campaigns.

Fierro Hotel is a real boutique experience for open-minded, food loving travelers who want to stay in the best-rated hotel in Buenos Aires. It's also home to a renowned UCO restaurant.
Cape Town, South Africa with CIEE
Hotel Internship:
Intern at a hotel or bed and breakfast supporting day to day operations for the front of house.
Tour Internship:
Interns will be coordinating booking and selling tours, as well as providing customer service at a local tour company.
Dublin, Ireland with World Endeavors
Tourism Internship:
Tourist office of a travel company, assisting the organization as a sales and tourist advisor. Responsibilities include welcoming tourists and providing information, going on tours to have more specialized knowledge about the products, learning about sales techniques and generating sales, assisting with office maintenance including restocking brochures and merchandise, and assisting with marketing including writing blog posts.
Food and Wine Import Company Internship:
Ireland’s leading food and wine importer, servicing hotels, caves, restaurants, delis and gourmet shops, as well as the general public. Interns assist with updating the company website, creating compelling brochures and marketing materials, answering phones, data entry and processing orders.
Florence, Italy with World Endeavors
Tourism Business Internship:
Company that offers food and wine tours on foot in the historic center of Florence. Interns assist with arranging tours, helping guests gain a deeper understanding of the foods and destinations on the tours.
Wine Business Internship:
Family-run wine cellar located in the heart of the Florentine old town. Interns learn about the business and sales side of wine, conduct market research and trend analysis, assist with the design of wine marketing strategies and campaigns, assist with strategies to expand clientele and increase sales, manage social media marketing campaigns, and gain a broader overview of the Italian wine industry.
Vineyard Tourism Internship:
Interns have assisted with hospitality and tourism at a vineyard in Tuscany, helping to arrange wine tastings and tours of the vineyard and assisting with marketing initiatives.

Hospitality Internship:
A hospitality management internship with a global hospitality and entertainment venue company. The intern can expect to get involved with assisting at live events, creating marketing material and getting involved with the bookings department and assisting with scouting artists.
Travel Internship:

Intern at a travel startup providing B2B AI travel solutions for its clients. Duties may include data construction and editing content on their website.
