Build Your Own Internship: Location of Your Choice 

Not seeing an internship for you below? If you have a very specific internship placement in mind or are looking through our program list and not seeing your location of choice, you still have options! You can “Build Your Own Internship,” where you research and secure your own internship while working with the GEO office to receive relevant academic credit. Students are responsible for finding this internship, housing, and travel arrangements independently, which is what differs from the existing internship placement programs that GEO offers. All students will be charged in-state tuition for this program and receive a guaranteed $250-$1000 scholarship.

Bangkok, Thailand with World Endeavors

NGO Internship Fighting Human Trafficking: Join an NGO that promotes human and children's rights, and also serves as the center for missing people due to human trafficking. Interns assist with administrative tasks, help with various children's campaigns, conduct research and compile data.
 

 

Berlin, Germany with CIEE

Women’s Rights NGO Internship:
Intern at a women's rights NGO on fundraising and awareness campaigns.

Environmental NGO Internship: 
Support daily administrative work, research, and compiling of community data for an environmental organization.
 

 

Buenos Aires, Argentina with Road2Argentina

Social Responsibility Internship:
Metáfora is a foundation that applies social responsibility programs. The purpose of the Seeds of Sustainability program is to involve children of age 5 to 8 in topics of responsible consumption and sustainability through different games and workshops in public and private schools. They also carry out community programs that organize free activities in community gardening, Informatics, Fabrics, Sewing, Film and Video.
 
Intern with the The Argentine Aphasia Foundation:
The Argentine Aphasia Foundation (Fundafasia) provides assistance and support to people with aphasia, who suffer from a language and communication disorder, caused by a brain injury. The foundation helps them reach the greatest autonomy and the best quality of life possible. It offers a Rehabilitation Center and a Day Center that promote the patient's reintegration into the labor market and work to gain new scientific knowledge about the disorder.
 

 

Cape Town, South Africa with CIEE

Social Services NGO Internship:
Intern with a social services NGO and provide programmatic support, build collateral, and review program effectiveness.

 

Fundraising Internship:
Intern with an NGO and contribute to fundraising and development projects and outreach initiatives.
 

 

Dublin, Ireland with World Endeavors

International Anti-Corruption NGO Internship:

Irish Chapter of a global movement against corruption, which operates a helpline to provide assistance to whistleblowers, as well as witnesses and victims of corruption and wrongdoing. Interns assist with handling calls, participate in weekly casework meetings, manage and respond to emails, conduct legal research and analysis, operate case and data management systems, draft edit and proofread, assist with administrative activities and general office administration, and assist with fundraising and event organization and management.   

 

 

Florence, Italy with World Endeavors

Psycho-social Rehabilitation, OT Internship:

NGO that deals with the psycho-social integration of people suffering or who have suffered from mental or psychological distress through the creation of a shared space, open to all, in which there is a real breaking down of the stigma surrounding mental health. Opportunities are provided for fun, socialization, well-being, culture, rehabilitation, training and information. Services provided include group therapy with professionals and peers, art therapy laboratories, socio-rehabilitation activities, social-work placements, training internships, and integration and social reintegration activities. Interns work in partnership with the management team in the psycho-social rehabilitation of clients by assisting with occupational therapy sessions within the structures of the association, mainly through group sessions, art therapy, and empowerment through employment training programs, which include a number of local restaurants as well as a beach club and resort with facilities accessible to people with disabilities. 

 

 

London, UK with Anglo Education Services 

Disaster Relief Non-Profit Internship:
An NGO based internship with a world leading forum specialising in disaster relief, mobile for development, food security, and water security. The intern can expect to get involved with event planning for their annual global event, copy writing and content creation, as well as assisting with developing email campaigns and monthly newsletters.
 
NGO Internship with a British Charity:
An NGO based internship with a British charity which helps sick children and youth with disabilities across the UK. The intern can expect to get involved with creating content for their website, conducting interviews with parents and writing them up for promotional material, as well as researching funding opportunities for the charity.

 

 

Madrid, Spain with World Endeavors

Migrant Services NGO Internship:

NGO that welcomes and provides resources to migrants. Interns participate in arranging summer school activities for the children, assist with arranging Spanish classes for adults and provide marketing support for the programs through social networks and the website. 

 

Communication Internship for Center for At-Risk Youth:

After school care facility for at-risk youth. Interns assist with organizing advocacy events, editing and producing multimedia content, investigate and write about issues related to human rights, manage website content, assist with creating photos and videos of the center and activities, help manage social media campaigns, help to create courses for the youth on IT or other areas of experience and interest, and help to plan and oversee children’s activities during the afternoons.

 

 

Osaka, Japan with CRCC Asia

Helping Communities at a Non-Profit Organization:
Intern at a non-profit organization helping communities in need throughout Japan with play space revitalization projects, specifically in disaster zones and at childrens homes. Duties include compiling a database of playgrounds and other areas in Japan to assess the damage. Interns will also help design new playgrounds/spaces for children.
 

 

Paris, France with World Endeavors  

NGO Internship Providing Migrant Children Support:

NGO that provides educational programming to Lebanese children who have migrated to France. Interns assist with arranging activities related to arts and cultural exchange to engage the children, like music education, library resources and outdoor recreation.

 

Internship with Humanitarian Organization:

NGO working toward global development and promoting respect for human dignity while assisting people of diverse origins with education, citizenship and integration into society. They mainly assist young people, women and asylum seekers. Interns participate in sociolinguistic workshops, manage communication and marketing initiatives including social media and website updates and translate flyers and other marketing or informational materials.

 

 

Prague, Czech Republic with World Endeavors

Nonprofit Management Internship:
Interns may prepare and write grants, research, and report on issues. Interns may also engage with supporters, or assist with promotions for fundraising or community outreach events.
 
Social Work Internship:
Interns will work with nonprofit or government organizations, aiding individual clients and assisting with community outreach initiatives, public health, and safety programs.
 

 

Quito, Ecuador with USFQ

Social Integration and Prevention Non-Profit Organization:
Intern at a non-profit focused on social integration and prevention. The student will be asked to develop a full communication plan, in order to brand and manage the program in which they will be working. Students will also be working with a group of youth refugees on a training program. Interns will be asked to make a follow up with planning tools. A good level of Spanish is required as well as communication skills to be in close contact with target groups. A knowledge on planning and business tools is also needed.

 

 

Rabat, Morocco with World Endeavors

NGO Internship for Women's Rights:
Join this team of inspiring women seeking a more egalitarian society. In an effort to strengthen the presence of women on the national scene at all levels, this organization pursues opportunities to advance women's participation through economic, social, cultural and legal channels. Intern responsibilities include assisting in developing social and economic strategy plans, project planning, developing partnerships with other organizations, creating marketing collateral, assisting with administrative tasks, and developing media content to increase awareness and visibility of the organization.

NGO Internship for Migrant and Refugee Services:
Share your time and talents with an NGO that works to address the challenges faced by migrants, refugees and disadvantaged youth. In an effort to protect diversity and promote the value of all cultures, this organization provides opportunities for dialogue between the many different people inhabiting Morocco together. They work to promote integration of underprivileged Moroccans, Sub-Saharan migrants and refugees within Moroccan society, as well as to promote and facilitate migrants' voluntary return to their home countries. The organization has a reception center for sub-Saharan migrants, Syrians and other migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, where they offer psychological, pedagogical and social assistance and support. They also strive to provide protection and assistance to the most vulnerable people, including unaccompanied children, people with disabilities and women at risk.

Nonprofit Management Internship with Education Foundation:
Passionate about innovative social enterprises and effective educational opportunities? We have the placement for you! This organization offers fun, alternative educational opportunities supported by new technology and personalized to the needs of each child. Contemporary, warm and friendly, this educational and cultural center serves a large number of households and offers a diverse multitude of services. Intern responsibilities include managing the website and social media channels, editing documents, conducting workshops with the children, and planning and marketing events. 

 

 

Seoul, South Korea with CRCC Asia

Internship with a Refugee Service:
Intern at a non-governmental organization providing refuge services for refugees in Korean. This NGO protects and assists North Korean and international refugees seeking asylum in Korea and abroad.

Non-Profit Private Organization Internship:
Intern at a non-profit private organization aiming to implement the vision and value of sustainable development as declared by the U.N. Global Summit in 1992, and focuses on "inclusive cities" to promote sustainable development, education, and international cooperation in promoting private governance.
 

 

Sydney, Australia with World Endeavors

 

Social Work Internship: 

Past Social Work interns have worked with older adults, following up on client concerns, joining the social worker on home visits, updating client records, attending day center for direct contact with clients, accompanying clients from the day center to medical appointments, and assisting with implementing activities and outings.

 

Tokyo, Japan with CRCC Asia

Science Based Non-Profit Internship:
Intern at a leading citizen-science based non-profit providing open, crowdsourced monitoring of radiation and other contaminants. It began immediately following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster in March 2011 and has grown to be global in scope. Volunteers worldwide design hardware and software systems, collect data, and publish the results. Intern tasks could range from hardware and software development to documentation to PR.
 
Accredited Non-Profit Internship:
Intern at an Accredited NPO in Japan that funds and implements access to clean drinking water projects, micro-credit/agriculture projects for self-sufficiency, and source funds for scholarships in the Philippines. HOPE Japan focuses on projects in Ethiopia, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Duties may include supporting C-leadership with setting strategic direction, researching funding opportunities, supporting grant proposals and applications, and more.
