Program Description:

King's College London Summer School

Study abroad this summer at King's College London which offers over 50 courses spanning the arts, humanities, law, management, politics, and social sciences. Students can choose to do Session I, Session II, or both sessions, earning 3 credits per session.

  • Session II: July 23 - August 10, 2018
During your stay in London, make sure you take a ride on the London Eye, a giant observation wheel and prominent London landmark. This slow-moving, giant ferris wheel is situated on the banks of the River Thames giving you enough time to take in the beautiful views of the city. You will be able to see many famous places from the glass capsules, including Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Houses of Parliament. Make sure to buy your London Eye tickets in advance, and plan to go at night when the lines are less crowded and the views are even more spectacular!

Eligibility

Mason undergraduate students only. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Courses Available

Students will select one course from Session I and/or Session II. At King's, courses are grouped under six genres - Culture, Governance, Health & Sciences, Maths & Engineering, Law, Business, and Ancient Languages.

Choosing Courses Abroad

This program does not have pre-approved classes. It is your responsibility to select courses and get them approved for transfer credit. To facilitate this process, you will complete the Petition for Transfer of Credit (PTC) Form. You will have access to the PTC form when you open an application.

You are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to look at this institution’s courses ahead of time to see how they will match up to your Mason degree requirements. Talk to your academic advisor about what courses you will need to receive credit for during your time abroad to stay on-track for your degree. When looking at courses keep in mind that course schedules can change. We recommend having twice as many courses approved as necessary.

Housing

Students are placed in single-occupancy en suite dorm rooms at King's College London. Upon receiving your acceptance from KCL, you will be directed to the King's e-store where a variety of accommodation and social program packages can be purchased. Accommodation is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so early booking is advised. Meal Plan

You accommodation package includes a meal allowance of £90 per session. This equates to approximately five meals per week.

Optional Events & Excursions

King's College London offers an exciting optional social program. Social events include exclusive boat parties on the River Thames, tickets to West End musicals and visits to historic cities and royal palaces.

Program Payments

Students on MasonGEO programs must pay the advertised program cost order to participate. This cost will be made in three payments (application fee + deposit + final balance). Students using financial aid can provide additional paperwork in lieu of deposit and final balance payments.

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $200 for Mason students. This fee is paid online through the MasonAbroad application system.

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of $1000 must be received by April 18, 2018 in order to confirm your enrollment in the program. Students who are using financial aid may have the deposit deadline extended. See "Financial Aid" information below.

Final Balance: The final balance payment is due by May 2, 2018. This is the difference of your Program Cost minus your paid application fee and deposit. Students who are using financial aid may have the payment deadline extended. See "Financial Aid" information below.

Financial Aid: Students who intend to use financial aid to fund their program fees (partially or in full) must have the "Intent to Use Financial Aid" form completed and on file with the Global Education Office by the deposit deadline. This form is available once you have started your application for this program in MasonAbroad.

Application requirements:*

Application fee: $200 for Mason students.

Official Transcripts: An official copy of your Mason transcript is required as well as copies of official transcripts from any other college or university you have attended.

Passport Status: If you do not have a valid passport, you should begin applying for one now.

Signature Documents: Read and electronically "sign" the documents.

Questionnaires: Read and complete the documents according to the instructions.

Intent to Use Financial Aid Form: For Mason students only. If you use financial aid, this form must be completed by your financial aid counselor and submitted by the deposit deadline.

*Additional paperwork may be required for this program and can be viewed inside your application.
