Program Description:
Barcelona Parque Guell

IT Networking Principles in Barcelona

This will be an exciting data communications course offered for the first time via the Mason Study Abroad Office. It will be taught at LaSalle University in Barcelona, Spain. The class will focus on primary aspects of data communications and networking technologies: Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and Internet models; Layer 1 interfaces and cabling configurations; IP network addressing, network design, router and port configurations; security protocols; static routing, RIPv2, and OSPF configurations; TCP, UDP, data reliability, and error correction methods; Telnet, FTP, TFTP, HTTP, SMTP, POP, and DNS protocols. The course entail 50 percent lab work of configuration of routers and network design, implementation, and testing. The state-of-the-art CCNA networking lab at LaSalle is equipped with Cisco routers and switches.

  • IT 300: Modern Telecommunications
These courses are co-requisites.

Eligibility & Prerequisites 

This program is open George Mason University IT majors and minors only. 
  • Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or better in (IT 101 and IT 212) or IT 105) and (IT 106 or IT 196 or CS 112) and (MATH 108 or MATH 113).
Note: This course is 50 percent lab work of configuration of routers and network design, implementation, and testing.
