Griffith University has been ranked among the top 3% of all universities across the world. Griffith's five campuses are situated in a range of South East Queensland locations, from pristine bushland a short drive from the center of Brisbane to one of Australia's most iconic coastal cities. Brisbane's brilliant weather, lush riverfront parklands, unique architecture, and vibrant nightlife are just some of the reasons it was named Australia's hippest city by Lonely Planet in 2014. With a population of just over 2 million, it has all the advantages of a modern metropolis while retaining the vibe of a small town.
Students have the opportunity to study at any of Griffith's 5 Gold Coast campuses - Gold Coast, Logan, Mt. Gravatt, Nathan, or South Bank. Most students choose to study at either the Gold Coast Campus (located in Australia's 6th largest city and one of its most iconic destinations complete with mild, sunny weather and pristine, golden beaches) or the Nathan campus (located a twenty minute ride from the center of Brisbane).

The academic calendar at Griffith University is a trimester. Mason students are able to study abroad in the spring (Trimester 1 - end of February to mid-June) or fall (Trimester 2 - early July to mid-October). Students may only study for Trimester 3 (late October to mid-February) if they apply to Griffith for the entire academic year.
Students are expected to take a full-time course load during their time at Griffith. A full-time course load is 30-40 units. A typical unit is 10 credits.
- 10 Griffith Credits Points = 4 Mason Credits
This will allow you to transfer between 12-16 credits back to Mason per semester.
When transferring courses back to Mason, the credits will transfer but the grade will not. However, you must receive the equivalent of a "C" or above in order to transfer your credit back. Refer to the table below regarding how grades are converted at Griffith.

Internship Course and Placement Process
Students are required to enroll in Community Internship (3002LFC) as a participant on this semester program. The Community Internship Course is worth 10 Cps (credit points). Students should plan to choose three additional courses to be considered a full-time student for the semester.
Choosing Courses Abroad
Other than the required Community Internship Course (3002LFC) this program does not have pre-approved classes. It is your responsibility to select courses and get them approved for transfer credit. To facilitate this process, you will complete the Petition for Transfer of Credit (PTC) Form. You will have access to the PTC form when you open an application.
You are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to look at this institution’s courses ahead of time to see how they will match up to your Mason degree requirements. Talk to your academic advisor about what courses you will need to receive credit for during your time abroad to stay on-track for your degree. When looking at courses keep in mind that course schedules can change. We recommend having twice as many courses approved as necessary.
Students participating in this study abroad program will automatically fulfill the Mason Global Understanding core requirement.
All students have the option of living on campus in shared, fully-furnished apartments with a common area, kitchen and bathroom or with an Australian family for the semester. Most Mason students live on Nathan or Mt. Gravatt campuses as housing on the Gold Coast campus is the most expensive. There is a bus between these campuses as well as to the South Bank campus.

Students on GEO programs must pay the advertised program cost order to participate. This cost will be made in three payments (application fee + deposit + final balance). Students using financial aid can provide additional paperwork in lieu of deposit and final balance payments.
Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $200 for Mason students. This fee is paid online through the MasonAbroad application system.
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of $2500 must be received by April 18, 2018 (for Fall 2018 programs) in order to confirm your enrollment in the program. Students who are using financial aid may have the deposit deadline extended. See "Financial Aid" information below.
Final Balance: The final balance payment is due by May 2, 2018 (for Fall 2018 programs). This is the difference of your Program Cost minus your paid application fee and deposit. Students who are using financial aid may have the payment deadline extended. See "Financial Aid" information below.
Financial Aid: Students who intend to use financial aid to fund their program fees (partially or in full) must have the "Intent to Use Financial Aid" form completed and on file with the Global Education Office by the deposit deadline. This form is available once you have started your application for this program in MasonAbroad.
GEO offers a number of need- and merit-based scholarships. All Mason students are welcome to apply:
