Dr. Chrishon Blackwell is a scholar practitioner and an organizational scientist. Chrishon has spent the past 16 years in international education developing strategies that support research, teaching, and global engagement across faculty, staff, and students. Chrishon is the Senior International Officer and Executive Director, Global Education at George Mason University. In her role, she facilitates and advances global engagement efforts at Mason by building robust and meaningful relationships with schools, departments, administrative units, and international partners to promote, facilitate, and coordinate opportunities for cross-college and cross-continent collaborations. Working closely with executive leadership and campus partners, she and her team focus on enhancing the university’s internationalization efforts to expand Mason’s global presence. Chrishon has extensive experience in leading global strategies, managing programs that enhance student success, and driving campus internationalization efforts. She has directed initiatives focused on retention, diversity, and global engagement, as well as overseen operations, strategic planning, and curriculum design for both domestic and international programs. Her work has consistently supported institutional goals by fostering collaboration across departments and enhancing the global profile of the institutions she’s served. Chrishon is active in several globally focused professional organizations, holds two bachelor’s degrees in political science and business management, a master’s degree in organizational leadership, and a doctorate in human and organizational learning. Chrishon’s doctoral research focused on the connections between cultural competency, comprehensive internationalization, and inclusion.
